WHAT IS G-SHARP?

G-SHARP/YSO 
is a 501(c)3
registered non-profit

G-SHARP is an out-of-school suspension program run by Youth Suspension Opportunities, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides an alternative to students serving suspension at home.  G-SHARP is a voluntary program dedicated to addressing the needs of the student, parent/guardian, and school during a suspension.  It provides the student: 
  • a safe, structured environment

  • volunteers who help students keep up with their academic assignments

  • guidance and emotional support to ensure students' future success

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
IN G-SHARP?

Students in grades 8 through 12 in Gaithersburg High School, Watkins Mill High School, Forest Oak Middle School, and Gaithersburg Middle School, as well as other Montgomery County schools when appropriate, who have been suspended and have been referred by their administrator may participate.

G-SHARP receives its funding from the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Resources, the City of Gaithersburg School Based Nonprofit Youth Grant Program, partnerships, in-kind donations, and private donations.
